Do Cockroaches Bite?

While cockroaches generally prefer to shy away from humans, there are circumstances when they will bite. For example, if a cockroach feels threatened or is unable to find food, it may resort to biting. Cockroach bites often occur at night, when the insects are most active. They typically target areas with thin skin, such as the ankles or wrists. Bites may also be directed at young children because of their tendency to have more food residue.

What Does a Cockroach Bite Look Like?

Cockroach bites usually result in small, red bumps that may be itchy or painful. In rare cases, bites can become infected. Compared to bedbug bites, they tend to be larger. One telltale sign of bedbugs is clusters of bites. Cockroach bites are much more likely to be isolated or more further spaced out.
